American Military University
MILITARY FOCUS
80+% of American Military University's (AMU) students are active duty
military service members, making AMU one of the nation’s largest providers of higher education to the U.S. Armed Forces.
The founder and many of the staff and faculty have military experience, and everyone
there shares a passion for providing quality education to those who make the sacrifice to serve our country.
Why do so many military members choose AMU? Because the students appreciate that the curriculum, class delivery, and services are uniquely designed around the needs of military members.
CUTTING EDGE, RELEVANT PROGRAMS
In higher education, it's all about career-relevant options. Students choose from a curriculum that includes more than 1500 courses and over 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Whether
you want to acquire the personal attributes that will benefit you in your
government career, or you're anticipating a transition to the civilian job market, AMU offers specialized programs that get you where you want to go.
The University offers one of the most comprehensive military studies and national security curricula outside the Department of Defense. Specialty programs in strategic intelligence, homeland security, security management, and transportation and logistics management cover just a few of the degrees our students pursue.
AFFORDABILITY
AMU is the smart choice for budget-conscious service members.
Despite significant rate hikes commonly found throughout the industry, tuition at AMU has remained stagnant for more than five years, at $250 per credit hour. And non-tuition related fees (that are likely to come out of the service member’s pocketbook) are kept to a minimum.
In fact, AMU has established a book grant so that undergraduate students do not have to purchase their own books or pay shipping costs, regardless of where they are located. This represents a huge savings for our students, since typical course material costs at a university can total several thousand dollars over the period of the student’s enrollment. This grant is available to all AMU undergraduate students who are seeking academic credit for their courses, and is applicable throughout a students’ enrollment in the undergraduate program.
CONVENIENCE & FLEXIBILITY
At AMU, the individual matters. They are there to serve you, and they help you work your studies around your military commitments.
Afraid of losing credits when you PCS? About to be deployed? No problem. AMU goes with you wherever you go. All of the courses are delivered over the Internet. Our students are located in 110 countries, and thousands currently taking classes are deployed. The asynchronous course delivery means no specific login times are required. Simply log on and download your assignments when it’s convenient for you during the week.
At AMU, you can progress through your degree path faster. First, courses start monthly, because
they know your personal commitments don’t always align with a traditional semester schedule. Second,
they offer 8&16 week sessions for many classes, so you have the option to take more intense, 8-week courses when your schedule allows. Finally, you won’t have to worry that a course you sign up for will be dropped at the last minute due to low enrollment.
EXPERIENCED FACULTY
AMU's faculty combines relevant theory with real-world experience. Their academic credentials include such institutions as the University of Chicago, University of Notre Dame, Stanford University, Cambridge University, and Harvard University. Many are executives in government, business and non-profit organizations, including the United Nations, the State Department, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. |
