OPM’s job is to build a high quality and diverse Federal workforce. OPM works with the President, Congress, departments and agencies, and other stakeholders to implement human capital policies that assist Federal agencies in meeting their strategic goals. This is accomplished by recruiting citizens to Federal service, by serving as the main portal for employment information and connecting job applicants with Federal agencies and departments. OPM connects people and their skills and talents to Federal agencies that need specific human resources and provides these agencies with policies and guidance that enable them to capitalize on these skills and talents.
About
the website (www.opm.gov): The OPM website is designed to be very
user friendly. It begins with an index page with scrolling News and
Events. The site includes an "About" section that is very
helpful in describing everything from the office's mission and goals to a
more-than-complete history of OPM. Opm.gov also has a "Quick
Index" feature that allows the user to navigate through each page of the
entire site.
